What hardware do I need? What do you provide?

Everything — we supply and set up a single, self-contained station for your center:

• A touchscreen with an on-board smart device — the console your grader uses.
• A reading device that reads the completed worksheets.
• A scanner to identify each student at sign-in.
• A printer for printing slips optional

It arrives configured for your center — nothing for you to assemble or integrate.

Is the printer required?

No — the printer is optional. How you use PencilGrade at the paper is entirely your choice:

• Use the printer to produce a printed slip the grader works from (or hands over) in place of marking by hand, or
• Skip the printer entirely and change nothing about your current student interactions — the grader simply marks the sheet the same way they do today, just faster.

Does anything change for my students?

No — with one upside they'll love. Results go to the grader, never to the child. Your students still receive a human-marked sheet and work through their corrections exactly as they do now. The only difference a student notices: they don't wait in line for grading — sheets come back in moments, so kids are in and out faster and spend their time learning, not waiting. PencilGrade is an invisible speed-assistant behind the counter; the routine that makes the method work stays intact.

Which subjects and levels does it grade?

Computational Math (from the point students write numeric answers, on up) and the applicable Reading levels. You can run the Math module, the Reading module, or both.

It's not built for Early Learners (EL) — the youngest, pre-computational levels are graded by eye and stay with your Early Learner teachers, who keep giving students the same one-on-one attention your center always has. You're simply not billed for those subjects. See Pricing.

Do you keep pictures of my students' work?

No. A worksheet is read once and immediately discarded — we never store a copy. We also collect the bare minimum about a student (a first name and a last initial), isolated per center and encrypted. Full detail on Privacy.

How accurate is it?

In pilot testing, grading accuracy reached 99%+ — up from about 92% by hand — and it caught mistakes human graders had missed. The full case is on Results.
